溝状に形成されたシワに対しては、コラーゲンやヒアルロン酸の注入、表情筋により出現する表情シワに対してはボトックスの注入が行なわれています。 タルミに関しては、従来より外科的にliftingするFace Lift が一般的な改善方法です。

フェザーリフトは、顔面や頚部の若返りに対して行なわれる、外科的侵襲の無い（メスを使用せず、切開をしないでタルミを改善する）独特の方法です。1998年にロシア人医師Sulamanidzeにより、APTOS糸が考案されました。“APTOS”という名称は、anti-ptosis(抗下垂：タルミの改善という意味です）に、由来いたします。WAPTOSはAPTOS糸の改良型で、長さが60cmまで延長され、barbと言う糸の返しの部分が、ゆるい螺旋（らせん）構造を描いております。WAPTOSは、2003年にオーストラリアで行なわれた、International Plastic Surgery Community（国際美容外科学会）において初めて発表されました。

若返りの方法は絶えず進歩しています。この方法の特徴としましては、（１）切開によるキズが出来ない、（２）ダウンタイムが早い、（３）手術時間の短縮が利点として挙げられます。欠点としましては、（１）皮下組織の移動や皮膚切除を行なわないため、外科的フェイスリフトに比較して戻る期間が短い可能性がある、（２）基本的に挿入された糸は、埋め込まれたままの状態となる、（３）糸の移動による術後変化などが考えられます。今回の招待講演では、フェザーリフトについての一般的な総論をお話しいたします。その後、リフトアップに対して効果的に改良した当院でのオリジナルな方法について、講義いたします。

　There are many procedures of anti-aging treatment. Injections of collagen and Hyaluronic acid are often applied to channel　like wrinkles. Botox injections are very effective on wrinkles caused by the movement of the mimic muscles. Traditionally, face lifting is the general surgical treatment for sagging faces.

The feather lift is a unique technique designed for non-invasive rejuvenation of the face and neck. The APTOS (anti ptosis) thread was first designed by the Russian doctor Sulamanidze in 1998. WAPTOS is a modified APTOS thread in which the length has been increased to 60cm and the barbs are arranged in a gentle spiral. WAPTOS was first presented to The International Plastic Surgery Community at the recently concluded 13th International Congress of the International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS) held in Sydney, August 2003.

These procedures do not have a long history, but there are some important advantages. The main advantages are that firstly there are no operative scars, secondly there is a shorter down time and thirdly, the operative time is shorter.

As for its disadvantages, there is a higher possibility of the skin returning to its pre-operative position, compared to the conventional face lift method, due to a lack of a repositioning procedure. The buried thread is hard to remove. There is a risk of hematoma and infections. And there is a higher chance of post-operative deformity caused by thread displacement in possible cases.

In this lecture, I would like to demonstrate the procedural steps, the specific methods and indications, the post-operative care, and the complications of feather lifts, by presenting several studies from our clinic.
